Solution to Fairfax bank heists?
When comparing gun policies of the Fairfax County banks robbed so far this year, banks that prohibit patrons from carrying firearms were over three times more likely to be robbed.
Wachovia and BB&T — together accounting for nearly two-thirds of banks hit — feature "no guns" signs in most area branches. Banks with more citizen-friendly gun policies, even though less in branch number, are still less likely to attract the criminal element looking for a quick buck.
While police and bank managers ponder causes for the recent rash of holdups, the data suggests removing "no guns" signs and policies — which were not heeded by robbers anyway— will result in less robberies.
