Bill of Rights or Entitlements?

As Mr. Derby reconsiders "entitlements" — otherwise known as inalienable rights — he should include the freedoms of religion and the press as well.

Faced with religious terrorists intent on slaughtering Americans and a press intent on publishing national security secrets — problems the Founding Fathers did not have — repealing the 1st Amendment could potentially save countless lives.

But Mr. Derby fails to realize that the Bill of Rights is not a list of benefits bestowed or denied at the whim of government; they derive directly from the Creator of man — see the Declaration of Independence. And the delicate balance recognized by the U.S. Constitution cannot be tampered with; for if one goes, the others will soon follow.
